A San Francisco musician was killed in a motorcycle accident recently. SF Weekly reports that the musician and his wife were hit by an Audi at the corner of Fulton Street and 30th Avenue in San Francisco on Sunday, June 10.
The exact cause of this accident is unknown but like so many San Francisco motorcycle crashes, the motorcycle driver and passenger sustained the brunt of the serious personal injuries. Blog posts from the musician’s friends indicate that his wife survived the accident but remains in intensive care at San Francisco’s General Hospital. The musician was reportedly pinned under the Audi and died of his injuries at the scene of the crash.
A benefit for the musician’s wife was held last Saturday by members of the Bay Area’s punk rock scene. Donations will go to defray the cost of the musician’s cremation and the wife’s substantial medical bills.
Fatal motorcycle accidents are common throughout California and it is typical for the car drivers involved in these crashes to sustain minimal personal injuries.
Another fatal motorcycle accident occurred last Friday in Southern California. A 35-year-old motorcyclist was riding on the shoulder of Interstate 5 near Encinitas late Friday night to pass a car. The motorcyclist was unable to see a Honda Civic stopped on the shoulder of the road and was thrown from his motorcycle.
The teens in the Civic were uninjured, but the out-of-control motorcycle caused a chain car accident that injured a 21-year-old El Cajon man.
