A 56-year-old woman recently suffered critical personal injuries when she was hit by a SUV at the intersection of Geneva Avenue and Prague Street. Authorities say that the crash happened right outside of San Francisco’s Crocker Amazon Playground.
Investigators say that a GMC Yukon hit the woman as she was crossing the street. The driver stayed at the scene of the accident and cooperated with police.
The pedestrian in this accident suffered severe head injuries that were considered life-threatening. Brain injuries are one of the most common injuries arising out of a pedestrian accident. There are many possible long-term problems that can be caused by brain injuries including cognitive disabilities and chronic pain.
This is one of many recent severe Bay Area pedestrian accidents. A few weeks earlier, a Lowell High School junior was killed by a 29-year-old drunk driver. That pedestrian accident happened in early March on Sloat Boulevard.
In addition to the normal statements on the dangers of drunk driving, many advocates are calling for safer crosswalk designs as a result of this crash.
