Driving an automobile on a clear day requires attention, spatial awareness, knowledge of driving regulations, obedience of driving laws and trust in the other drivers that share the road. Although many people claim that driving has become like a second instinct the longer that they have their license, it is still a dangerous task. A vehicle can become a deadly weapon when it is used improperly and causing a car accident.
Driving on a roadway is difficult enough without the addition of inclement weather that can complicate the process or cause a driver to lose control. It was raining Sunday morning when a two car accident occurred in Calaveras County, California. Authorities with the California Highway Patrol noted the rain in their report but did not confirm whether it was a significant factor involved in the vehicle crash.
The driver of a sedan had been traveling on Highway 26 just east of Burson Road. The 24-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the center lane, striking a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. A 72-year-old man was driving the second vehicle that was struck by the sedan in the head-on collision.
According to the California Highway Patrol, emergency response was called at approximately 8:13 early Sunday morning and immediately arrived on the scene. Both drivers were taken by emergency personnel to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas, California as a precautionary measure even though the two drivers sustained only minor injuries.
