Authorities say that two car accidents which happened this morning were caused by black ice on San Pablo Dam Road between Richmond and Orinda. One motorist said that her car slid down a steep embankment and smacked into a tree after she hit a patch of black ice. Photographs of the crash scene show the woman wrapped in a police jacket and her badly damaged white car being towed away.

Hit-and-run pedestrian accidents kill two over the weekend
Two people were killed in pedestrian accidents in the Bay Area on Saturday. The San Mateo County Times reports that the first accident happened around 11:30 a.m. in San Mateo. That crash involved a 67-year-old man who was standing a bus stop on South Delaware Street. A driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a concrete garbage can that crushed the man.
