A group of San Francisco nurses recently rescued a woman and four small children after a Novato car accident. The nurses came upon the accident Wednesday afternoon near the South Novato Boulevard/Highway 101 interchange. The Marin Independent Journal reports that the nurses were returning from a trip to Sacramento when they came up to the wreck shortly after it happened around 3 p.m.
The car accident was caused when the woman driving the car rammed into a parked truck. A Novato fire captain said that the personal injuries in this wreck could have been much worse given the amount of passenger space intrusion, but it appears that the use of seat belts and child seats prevented any of the children from suffering major personal injuries.
“It was a pretty nasty crash,” one of the nurses said. “They were hysterical, screaming, crying. The woman in the driver’s seat said, ‘Please help me get the children out.'”
Authorities are still investigating the cause of this crash but noted that the truck was legally parked. It is unclear whether the driver was distracted when she hit the truck or whether the legal parking spot was improperly designed and difficult to see from the road.
