Rock star Mitchell Lucker was recently killed in a California motorcycle accident. The 28-year-old was the frontman of the death metal band “Suicide Silence.” Lucker released three albums with the band, the last of which was a top 30 hit on the U.S. Billboard Album Charts. The motorcycle accident happened in Huntington Beach on Halloween and Lucker died of his injuries last Thursday at the UC Irvine Medical Center.
“There’s no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident,” the band wrote on its Facebook fanpage. “This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts.”
Authorities say that the motorcycle accident happened around 9 p.m. on Halloween on Huntington Beach’s Main Street. Lucker allegedly slammed into a pole while riding his black 2013 Harley-Davidson. After the light pole crash, the motorcycle continued into an intersection and hit a pickup truck. The occupants of the pickup truck did not sustain any serious personal injuries.
Candlelight vigils were held for the musician on the day of his death throughout California including Huntington Beach and Riverside. It is unclear why Lucker lost control of his vehicle and witnesses are encouraged to call the police at (714) 536-5666.
