Four pedestrians and one vehicle occupant were injured in a dramatic pedestrian accident in Twin Peaks yesterday. The crash happened around 8:50 p.m. last night on Christmas Tree Point Road.
KTVU reports that a sedan hit three pedestrians and sent them flying down the hillside. A fourth pedestrian sustained minor injuries by jumping out of the way.
Emergency responders had to rescue the pedestrians with ropes and backboards. All four pedestrians were rushed to nearby hospitals.
The status of the pedestrians is unclear but some media outlets are reporting that one of the pedestrian is being treated for life-threatening injuries. That pedestrian is possibly a woman in her 50s. The ages of the other pedestrians are unknown.
Authorities were able to track down the sedan that hit the pedestrians a short time later. The driver was arrested and an occupant of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital after complaining of an injury.
The pedestrian accident is still under investigation and authorities are looking into whether drugs or alcohol had an impact in this crash. Distracted driving and intoxicated driving are the primary causes of similar accidents.
