Former baseball star and popular Christian radio talk show host Frank Pastore is still in a coma after a serious California motorcycle accident. Pastore was involved in a crash on Nov. 19, when a driver sideswiped him in Duarte, California.
Pastore has been in a coma at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center since the accident.
“It’s difficult to tell at this point what the outcome will be,” a hospital spokeswoman told reporters.
Another pastor recently told his followers at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church that Pastore was at least in a stable and slowly improving condition despite still being in a coma.
“His vital signs are good,” Pastor Greg Laurie said at the beginning of a recent sermon. “There’s been no swelling of the brain. They have done an MRI that’s hopeful as well, so if he could just wake up it would be a great thing, although God is ultimately in control, but I pray that God will bring him out of it.”
Laurie added that at one point he asked his longtime friend to twitch his eye if he could hear him, and that Pastore did so.
Pastore first became prominent in the early 1980s as a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds. More recently he has hosted “The Frank Pastore Show.” The three-hour talk program is among the largest Christian talk shows in the country.
