Several deadly car accidents have occurred in the San Francisco Bay Area during the past few weeks. Authorities say that at least one person was killed and three people were injured in an Oakland car accident on Monday morning. The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. at Foothill Boulevard at 36th avenue.
CBS San Francisco reports that this was a two-vehicle crash and that one of the cars overturned. Authorities say that the East Oakland woman who died in this crash had stolen the car from an area car repair shop just moments before the accident happened.
A San Mateo County police officer died during another crash in Burlingame last week. Authorities say that the accident happened Jan. 31 shortly after noon. The 51-year-old off-duty police officer was riding through the intersection of El Camino Real and Bellevue Avenue when he hit a car driven by a 64-year-old San Carlos woman.
Local news reports indicate that the crash is still under investigation but the driver of the car was not arrested or cited at the scene of the crash.
Another fatal accident happened in Oakland on Jan. 26. Authorities say that the 19-year-old driver involved in that accident was fleeing from police officers at the time of the accident. The crash happened at Highway 80 and Barrett Avenue.
