The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a 50-year-old man has died after sustaining fatal injuries in a Mission Street pedestrian accident. Authorities say that the man was cross Mission Street near the intersection of Valencia last Thursday when he was hit by a SamsTrans bus.
A SamsTrans route 391 bus slammed into the man around 6:30 p.m. and he died of his injuries at San Francisco General Hospital.
The driver has been removed from street duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation. It is unclear whether drug and alcohol testing was conducted.
Another pedestrian was recently killed while crossing Judson Avenue in Sunnyside. Authorities say that the 60-year-old woman was hit near City College of San Francisco’s Ocean campus. The woman was also taken to San Francisco General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The San Francisco Appeal reports that the driver who killed that pedestrian was a 42-year-old woman who remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation.
