In our last post we covered the tragic car accident death of Paul Walker, a popular actor and star of the Fast & Furious movie franchise. Paul Walker died last weekend as the passenger in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend Roger Rodas.

Official autopsy reports were released this week and indicated that Walker’s death was due of the combined effects of the car accident and ensuing fire.

Video footage of the crash shows the Porsche bursting into the flames after it hit a light pole in Santa Clarita.

According to the Los Angeles County coroner, Rodas died upon impact but Walker was still alive when the car started burning.

Both were declared dead at the scene and authorities had to use dental records to confirm their identities. Early reports of drag racing activities were ruled out and it was determined that this was a single-car accident.

The autopsy reports did not include toxicology results. The New York Daily News reports that these will take up to two months.

Authorities have determined that speed was a factor in this crash but did not determine what exactly caused Rodas to lose control of the vehicle. Both Rodas and Walker were fans of sports cars and co-owned a racing prep shop in California.
