Fatal Collision On Highway 121 Near Gloria Ferrer Vineyards Caused By Driver Turning Into Motorcyclist’s Right Of Way
Sonoma, CA, (June 7, 2017) – Fifty-year old Pleasant Hill resident Armando Fabila died on Sunday afternoon, June 4, 2017, when his motorcycle collided with a 2106 Chevy Malibu that had turn into his path on the Highway 121 portion south of Sonoma, California. Fabila was traveling south on the Highway 121 portion Arnold Drive toward Wagner Road, the access road to the Gloria Ferrer Caves and Vineyards.
A California Highway Patrol officer stated, according to press reports, that Warren Saccente, age 61, of Purcellville, Virginia, driving a 2016 Chevy Malibu collided with Fabila. Saccente was stopped at the intersection of Wagner Road and Arnold Drive, waiting to take a left turn from Wagner Road to travel north on Arnold Drive.
After watching another vehicle traveling southbound on Arnold Drive turn into Wagner Road, Saccente turned northbound on Arnold Drive right into the path of Fabila’s 1997 Harley Davidson. Fabila braked but could not avoid the collision.
The CHP was called to scene the around 1:00 pm and closed access to the southbound lanes of Highway 121 for about three hours. Fabila passed away at the scene before he could be transported to a hospital.
