Fatal Motorcycle Crash Occurred After Truck Driver Entered Lane For Opposing Traffic
July 7, 2017 (Carmel Valley, CA) – A motorcyclist was struck and killed by a motorist driving west on Carmel Valley Road at Self ridge lane on Thursday, July 6, 2017, around 12:00 pm.
The motorcyclist, an unidentified 58-year old man from San Carlos, riding a 2012 red Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, heading eastbound on Carmel Valley Road. The driver of a 2003 Ford F-250 pick up truck approached in the westbound lane. In trying to avoid a car stopped in his path, the pickup truck driver lost control, over-corrected and broadsided the motorcyclist. The driver of the truck, a 68-year old man from Salinas, was taken to the Natividad Medical Center in Salinas for treatment of moderately severe injuries.
The motorcyclist was ejected off his motorcycle during the crash and taken to Community Hospital of the Monterrey Peninsula where he later passed away from the injuries he sustained.
