This Amazon driver double parked on a San Francisco sidewalk, and when the driver went to leave they failed to look where they were driving, and then hit a San Francisco fire hydrant. This occured on October 18, 2024 on Market Street at 9th in San Francisco, California. Instead of taking responsibility for their actions, such as calling for emergency assistance, they drive off, leaving behind the spewing water and a danger to everyone around.
Parking on the sidewalk, in violation of California Vehicle Code Section 22500 and damaging property and then leaving the scene in violation of California Vehicle Code Section 20002. As well, the San Francisco Municipal Code provides that no one shall obstruct a hydrant, which arguably is violated by first parking immediately adjacent to it, and then severely damaging it. SF Municipal Code Section 74.
