Big Rig Truck Driver Struck Motorcycle And Fled Scene
July 7, 2017 (San Pablo, CA) – A motorcyclist was struck and killed by a big rig truck driving on westbound Interstate Highway 80 on the morning of July 3, 2017, in the area of El Portal Drive in San Pablo, California.
The motorcyclist was identified by family as 35-year old Nicholas Brown from Fairfield. Brown was on his way to work Monday morning when the incident happened. The CHP reported that the big rig crashed into Nick and continued on, After learning of his death, his mother described Nick as a “family man who had the biggest heart.” He is survived by his two children.
Brown was first hit by the big-rig, then hit another vehicle before being thrown to the pavement. The big-rig kept going and Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. The big-rig, described as a a yellow truck with a white trailer, made an unsafe lane change and hit Brown, who then hit another car and was ejected from his motorcycle and onto the roadway, CHP Officer Matthew Hamer said. Witnesses said the big-rig driver pulled over and stopped for four or five minutes, then drove away, Hamer said.
