SUMMARY

Two people were killed in pedestrian accidents in the Bay Area on Saturday. The San Mateo County Times reports that the first accident happened around 11:30 a.m. in San Mateo. That crash involved a 67-year-old man who was standing a bus stop on South Delaware Street. A driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a concrete garbage can that crushed the man.

The second crash happened in South San Francisco on Highway 101 near Oyster Point Boulevard about nine hours later. Authorities say that a woman was walking along the highway when she was hit by a car shortly before 8:30 p.m. and then was run over by other cars.

The driver of the first car failed to stop. Two other drivers, one from Oakland and the other from Alameda, stayed at the scene of the accident. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. That crash is still being investigated and it unclear whether the pedestrian was walking in lanes of traffic at the time of the accident.

Authorities are still looking for the first driver to hit the San Francisco woman but were able to find the driver who killed the San Mateo pedestrian. A 26-year-old San Mateo man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run in connection with that pedestrian crash.
