CBS News reports that a woman was killed early last month when two trucks collided in San Jose. A delivery truck was driving west on Auzerias Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. on June 13 when it smacked into a dump truck at the intersection of Auzerais and Lincoln avenues.
The force of the crash was so strong that the delivery trucked was flipped over, landing on a woman who was walking her bicycle in the crosswalk.
Emergency crews pronounced the woman dead at the scene of the pedestrian accident and say that both drivers cooperated with the investigation. The drivers were uninjured in the crash.
The Bay Area News Group reports that the woman was a 23-year-old mother of a 2-year-old daughter. This was San Jose’s 17th fatal crash of the year. Last year, 30 people died in 29 fatal San Jose traffic accidents.
This accident happened about a block from another crash involving a cyclist. Authorities say that the man was hit by a light rail train a few days before this accident. The cyclist reportedly went under the lowered crossing arm on Sunol Street before he was struck.
