A mother and daughter are hospitalized after a serious car accident involving two allegedly intoxicated drivers.
NBC San Francisco reports that the 33-year-old mother has been accused of speeding into oncoming traffic around midnight Monday.
Witnesses report seeing the woman speed up to 60mph in a 40mph zone before the crash.
The woman crashed into a Toyota Camry on Osgood Road between Blacow Road and Auto Mall Parkway. The driver of the Camry was reportedly intoxicated and cited with misdemeanor DUI before being released at the scene. The driver suffered a leg injury but wasn’t hospitalized.
Authorities say that the 33-year-old mother and her 4-year-old daughter suffered serious injuries in the crash and remain hospitalized today. The mother, who is also suspected of DUI, is expected to survive but her young daughter is reportedly “battling for her life.”
Evidence indicates that the 4-year-old girl was in an unsecured child seat.
Another crash happened a few blocks away later that morning. Authorities say that a pedestrian was run over by a Corvette at Washington Boulevard and Olive Avenue. The driver remained at the scene and told authorities he thought he “hit a bird.”
NBC News reports that an elderly died in that crash.
