The Dolan Law Firm recently filed the first lawsuit against Uber cab for the death of 6-year-old Sofia Liu.
Sofia Liu was run over by Syed Muzzaraf along with her mother Huan and brother Anthony. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Liu’s parents, Ang Jiang and Huan Kuang and has been covered in publications such as PC World.
Liu and her family were run over last New Years’ Eve at the intersection of Polk and Ellis Streets.
Ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft have promoted their technology as a viable alternative to traditional forms of transportation such as taxi cabs. The Dolan Firm has been at the forefront of San Francisco-based protests against such companies, noting that the business model is a violation of California’s hands-free cellphone law and often results in murky insurance coverage issues in the event of pedestrian accidents.
Liu is one of several San Francisco residents injured by negligent Uber and Lyft drivers. Last month an elderly Nob Hill woman was run over by a Lyft driver.
